forward
September 13, 2020 - May 23, 2020
Philippians 3:13-14 says, “Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.” How do we move FORWARD? Forward from the past to the future? Forward from indulgence to commitment? Forward from me to we? Forward from brokenness to wholeness? Forward from comfortable to awakened? Forward from believers to disciples? Note: Series moves chronologically from the bottom of the page to the top.
from believer to disciple to apostle
Jesus is alive! We believe! Now what? God calls us to move forward from believers to disciples... and then from disciples to apostles... advancing His kingdom by advancing ourselves in obedience and faithfulness.
from COMFORTABLE
TO AWAKENED
Have you noticed how many outrageous things Jesus says in the Gospels? "Let the dead bury the dead," "Eat my flesh and drink my blood," "If your eye causes you to sin, tear it out," "The last shall be first," etc. Many of these statements are designed to disrupt our comfort, and open our eyes so that we begin to see the world as God does. In short, they move us Forward from Comfortable to Awakened.
from brokenness
to wholeness
This series will explore how the 12 Step movement that originated with Alcoholics Anonymous has assisted countless people in life-transforming change, and how this journey is relevant for every Christian person, as all people must move forward from brokenness to wholeness in Christ.
from ME TO WE
Perhaps more than any other time, Advent is a season to move forward from me to we. Even in our secular culture, there is a recognition that this is a season not to focus on myself but on others - "Tis a season of giving." But in the church, we realize there is more to Advent than just giving to others - this is the time when "they" becomes "us" and "me" becomes "we."
from carefree to commitment
“Carefree” has a positive connotation but is a very interesting word – what would it be like to truly not care about anything or anyone? Caring is always the beginning of commitment. Conversely, without commitment, there is no caring.
from past to future
Examining the book of Ruth and God's call to move forward from Past to Future. What lies behind in your past that is trying to hold you back? Where do you need to hear the voice of God inviting you into a good future, a future with hope?
